You Don't Actually Know What Your Future Self Wants.
Hi guys, today I watched a TED video "You Don't Actually Know What Your Future Self Wants" by Shankar Vedantam. When he was in 12 years old he fractured his foot by playing soccer. At the time he didn't tell that to his parents. Because he don't want to go to the doctor. The next day his dad take him to the movie. For that movie they walked to there and watched movie. After watching the movie he said that his foot is fractured. When we look backwards how we have been then and now we can find so much difference between older self and current self. We always think that we have become same persons in the future as we are now. This is called "Illusion of continuity".
Then he talked about John and Stephanie Rinka. John was the coach and Stephanie was a nurse. They both are talked about future selves. Stephanie said that she wants live quality life over the quantity life. When they became older Stephanie suffering from her health issues. At the time she was not able to breath. John remember the conversation between their younger selves.
So for this he gives 3 advices to us. They are:
- Stay curious.
- Practice humility.
- Be brave.
